Louis V. Aronson

Louis V. Aronson founded the Ronson Art Metal Works in 1896, which later became famous for Ronson's Lighters and smoking accessories. Louis began his career, and company, at the early age of 16 when he patented a metal plating process that had an immediate commercial value. Not only did he sell his patent for a very good price, he retained the rights to utilize his own process in a commercial business, hence, The Art Metal Works. Originally opened in New York city, he decided to move the factory to Newark, New Jersey, after his first year in business.
