Guy Nason is
Professor ofStatistics at theUniversity of Bristol and currently Head of the Mathematics Department after taking over the post fromStephen Wiggins in 2008. He received hisBSc from theUniversity of Bath in 1988, a diploma in Mathematical Statistics from theUniversity of Cambridge in 1989 and hisPhD in Statistics from theUniversity of Bath in 1992. He was awarded theGuy Medal in bronze by theRoyal Statistical Society (RSS) in 2001. He served as a Council member of theRoyal Statistical Society (2004-08) and is a member of theEPSRC Strategic Advisory Team forMathematics. He was anEPSRC Advanced Research Fellow during 2000-05.He has served as the Secretary of the RSS Research Section (2002-04), associate editor for the Journal of the RSS, Series B, Computational Statistics and Statistica Sinica and is currently an associate editor for Biometrika.
He is best known for his work in the area of
time series analysis , especiallywavelet approaches. [ G. P.
