"The Block" is the fifth studio album by New Kids on the Block. The first official single off the album is "Summertime" and the song was released on May 13, 2008. It is the group's first studio album in 14 years since "Face the Music".

Release and Reception

"The Block" was released on September 2, 2008 and debuted at number two in the Billboard 200, behind Young Jeezy's "The Recession", selling 100,000 copies in its first week of release. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Pop Album Chart. On the Canadian Albums Chart, the album debuted at number one, becoming their first and only number one album there.

The album received mixed reviews from different critics. Most negative reviews came from the magazine and publishing critics due to the overtly sexual nature of the album, while mostly positive reviews came from music blogs and free press critics.
