Mappy (editor)

Mappy is a lightweight software tool used to create, edit and manipulate pixel-based graphic, 2D-tile maps and isometric pixel art. It can handle different layers and a a good tool, for making layout and graphics for 2d-based games.

One additional feature is the creation of sourcecode for maps and game logic. It compiles different formats for different coding languages and game-libaries, mostly based on C/C++. Playback libraries can play back the native saved file format, and several playback libraries exist for a multitude of languages. These can be coded into new languages relatively easy due to the open nature of the save file.

Each tile can have multiple numeric and binary flags set for the application logic to pick up. For example, collision flags can be set so that wall logic is encoded on a per tile basis.

One similar software is Tile Studio.
