Struck off

Struck off means "to be removed", usually from a position of power or responsibility or stature.

In the UK it has a colloquial meaning of being removed from a GP Surgery list. [http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/actionnetwork/A1182584]

Examples

* In the United States Navy, the final decommissioning of a ship is when it is struck from the Naval Vessel Register.

* In the United Kingdom, the erasure of a medical practitioner from the Medical Register by the General Medical Council, usually as a sanction.
