Buzan’s iMindMapTM is a commercial desktop application for Mind Mapping, developed by Tony Buzan and Buzan Online. The software uses Tony Buzan’s organic Mind Mapping methods to create brain-friendly maps for brainstorming, organising, creative thinking and planning. [http://www.buzanworld.com/mindmaps/]

The software allows organic [http://www.innovationtools.com/tools/softwaredetails.asp?a=296] Mind Maps to be created using a mouse or interactive whiteboard or tablet computer. Two modes are provided:Mind Mapping Mode allows personal organic, curved Mind Maps to be produced. Speed Mapping Mode allows users to capture information quickly, for example for note-taking in meetings or for recording telephone conversations.

Buzan’s iMindMap can run on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and is integrated with Microsoft Office allowing Mind Maps to be exported to programs like Word and Excel as well as PDF, image files and web pages. Additional capabilities include an image and an icon library, attach notes, images, sketches, hyperlinks, Mind Maps and documents to branches, relationship arrows, highlight clouds and different views including presentation, web text and full screen.

In depth Beta testing [http://www.michaelonmindmapping.com/mind-map-software/mind-mapping-software-update-imindmap-is-shaping-up-nicely/] took place during summer 2008 concluding with the release of Buzan's iMindMap Version 3 on 31st August. iMindMap Version 3 saw a collection of new features and tools being introduced to the software, including further Office and OpenOffice integration, sketch functions, a Project Management Tool, SVG and spreadsheet exports, and the ability to focus in and out on ideas.

Buzan's iMindMap Version 3 is made up of three Editions - Elements, Professional and Ultimate - each containing a different set of features.

iMindMap Version 3 provides tools for users to develop and deliver their own e-Learning Courses (which can be a combination of text, voice-over narration, images, animations and videos) on any chosen subject. These courses run within with iMindMap and allow users to complete Mind Mapping activities within the iMindMap workspace. Courses can be developed using the iMindMap eLC Builder tool and Adobe Flash; and then delivered using iMindMap’s e-Learning Course Viewer. The e-Learning Course viewer will be available in all three editions of iMindMap – Elements, Professional and Ultimate. The e-Learning Course builder will only be available in the Ultimate edition.
