José María Mariano Segundo de Urvina y Viteri (b. 1808, d. 1891) was President of
Ecuador 13 July 1851 to16 October 1856 .He was born in Quillon (Pillaro-
Tungurahua ) on March 19th, 1808, his primary education was given in his birthplace he then attended to the Navy School inGuayaquil . He was notorious among his classmates from whom he obtains their friendship and consideration. The correct spelling of his name has been cause of confusion, since hisbanker son Francisco Urbina Jado wrote it "Urbina" instead of the original "Urvina".His behavior in the naval combat of Punta de Mapelo, rises him above the group because of his courage. He was the aide-camp of
Juan Jose Flores . In his carrier he demonstrated his vocation reaching the decree of General of the Republic.Political life
