The owner of KACL has sent her daughter, Poppy Delafield, to start an internship at the station. Everyone finds her unbearable because she can never stop talking, though they are all too polite to say so. Meanwhile, Niles is very pleased with himself; he has been appointed
art critic of a posh magazine, "The Monocle", and is now attending performances for free and socialising with the elite of Seattle. Frasier becomes envious, and asks Kenny if he could host an arts programme on KACL, to fill a recently vacated slot in the schedule; Kenny says no. Frasier therefore decides that he must approach someone in a more senior position. To this end, he has a subtle conversation with Poppy, to persuade her to suggest his idea to her mother. She loves the idea, but some of the subtlety is lost on her, including the crucial component of who should host the show.Martin is pleased when Eddie kills his first rat, but then trouble starts when he encourages him to repeat his success, and the victim turns out to be a missing hamster.

*"How a
Poppy becomes heroine"Memorable Quotations
"Just before signing off at the end of his radio show, Roz reminds Frasier to make an announcement. He is not thrilled"Frasier: Be sure to tune in later for the final broadcast of KACL's loveable , Chester Ludgate. You know, most of us here at the station were surprised to hear that he was retiring. I, for one, thought he'd never leave.
"Roz has arrived in
Café Nervosa , and seen Poppy at another table with some other KACL workers"Roz: I see Poppy's having a little party.Frasier: That is not a party; that's a hostage situation."Niles' incessant boasting about his new job and all its glamorous accompaniments is starting to irritate his brother"Niles: I'm rubbing some pretty impressive shoulders these days. And to think it's all because I have a small column.Frasier: That would certainly be the Freudian interpretation!
"The news about Frasier's prospective new arts show starts an argument with Niles"Niles: You conniving copy-cat! You have to have whatever I have.Frasier: I do "not" have what you have; my audience is twice as large as yours is!Niles: Oh well, at least my audience can read!Frasier: How dare you review my audience!
