Luke & Q (Luke Boyd and Quinten Spears) are a R&B duo from New Orleans, United States. They are known for their 2006 hit single, "My Turn".

Biography

Early years

They met in eighth-grade when Luke overheard Q singing Ginuwine's, "Same Ol' G". As Luke recalls, "I was, like, You can sing, dog, but you may want to flip it," who then belted his version. They joined another childhood friend and formed a trio called Upskale, but the group disbanded almost as quickly as it began. J Records/Underdog Entertainment

Through Tyrese, they met production duo Damon Thomas and Harvey Mason Jr. of The Underdogs for Underdog Entertainment, and were introduced to Clive Davis who subsequently signed them to the J Records imprint in 2004. The first single off their untitled debut album is called, "My Turn". In an interview with Billboard.com, The Underdogs were asked: "Luke & Q bowed last year with the single "TK," didn't they?" and they gave the following answer:

Mason: "We were testing the waters with that song. Now we have the official first single, club record "Turn It Around" featuring Young Dro."
Thomas: "We wanted to have a record that represented where these two kids are from, New Orleans. Once we had that record, we reshaped the album around that and came up with the whole sound for them. It took us a couple of years of development to get them where we wanted. They are R&B singers with vocals like K-Ci & JoJo and hip-hop stories from the South."
