Capture of Aghdam

Battle of Agdam (June - July 1993) - took place during the Nagorno-Karabakh War, during which on July 23, 1993 Armenian forces of Nagorno-Karabakh captured Agdam.

The battle

* The first assault began on June 12, but Azeris managed to defend.
* The second assault began on June 15, which was also ineffective. Armenian forces then switched all of their might to capture Mardakert, and returned once Mardakert was liberated.
* The third assault began on July 3
* The forth and final assault began on July 14. Six thousand soldiers took part in the assault using a squadron of MI-24's and about 60 tanks. The azeri troops had been exhausted from multiday fighting and were suffering from a lack of reinforcements and shortage of ammunition.
