Skill 7 Stamina 12 is a band formed in 2001 by Nathaniel Mellors, Ashley Marlowe, Dan Fox and Maaike Schoorel. They performed their first gig in Grizedale Forest, The Lake District for Grizedale Arts. They formed Junior Aspirin Records in 2002 to release their first 7" single. This was funded by and launched at D.J.C.A.D., Dundee - the band occupied The Cooper Gallery for 3 days: they performed music, made an installation and lectured on their collective and individual work. They subsequently released their debut album 'Robotics With Strings'in 2004, and a 2nd album, ' Skill 7 Stamina Dead'(recorded by Thomas House of Charlottefield and Simon Johns of Imitation Electric Piano / Stereolab) in 2007. This saw the group's sound develop from a set of post-punk influences to incorporate greater improvisation and noise. The group have expanded Junior Aspirin Records beyond Skill 7 Stamina 12's output to release music by a number of international artists and musicians including The Rebel, The Extra Action Marching Band, Socrates That Practices Music, DJ Scotch Egg, Sue Tompkins and Jack Too Jack.
