Ata (Alain) Hoodashtian is an associate professor and President of the Management Institute of Canada [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Management_institute_of_Canada] , based in Montreal, Canada.

Biography

Early life and education

Ata Hoodashtian was born in Tehran in 1957, and has lived in USA, France and Canada since 1975. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Paris, MA and DEA in Philosophy from the Paris-Sorbonne University.

Career

He has taught in Paris for less than 10 years at Institutes, Grandes Ecoles and the Paris 8 University, and worked in Central Asia for 4 years, as Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Political Science, and as Director of the Research Center. He has collaborated with Yale University, European Universities, NGOs, and has been Chair of the Editorial Board of the “Central Asian Journal" for two years, published in collaboration with Yale University, and is a member of the CRISE, research center at the University of Paris 8 since 1997.In 2001 he established "Management Institute of Canada (MIC) [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Management_institute_of_Canada] which offer MBA and MPA degree.

His areas of research are: Modernity, Modern and traditional philosophical systems (East and West), Métissage of Values (composition of modern and traditional values), Intercultural Studies, International Politics, Islamic society, Iran and modernity, the Middle East and Central Asia.

Published works

He has published books and articles in Paris and Tehran, in English, French and Persian, and has published two books, the first one in French ‘Modernité sans Occident’ published in Paris in 2005, and the second in Persian: ‘Modernity, Globalization and Iran, published in Tehran in 2006.
