Plot

Summer Smith has had the worst day of school. Her crush, Sean didn't notice her, and she had to walk home in the cold. She is elated when her parents tell her that she gets to spend the summer with her rich romance novelist aunt, Mallory Olan, and cousin Diana, in Crab Claw Key, Florida. On the plane to the Key, she meets a fortune teller. She tells Summer that she will meet three men, one will be mysterious, one will be dangerous, and one will be "right." On the plane she also meets Seth, who works for his grandfather on the Key in the summer. She runs into him numerous times in the airport, and he kisses her in a photo booth. Then Diana and Mallory show up. Mallory must imeadeatley leave for a book tour and leaves Summer with Diana. Diana determined not to like Summer, makes her stay in the old stilts house on the property.

Characters

Summer Smith-A 16 year old girl from Bloomingtom Minnesota. Often described as nice and sweet.

Mallory Olan- Summer's aunt. Mallory is a famous romance novelist, and spends half of the time on tour.

Diana Olan-Diana's dark and withdrawn exterior often push others away from her. She is convinced her mother invited Summer down here to perk her up some. Diana's kept her twisted past bottled inside for so long that she is deeply depressed and often has thoughs of committing suicide. Her only reason to stay alive is her job helping abused kids at the Dolphin Interactive Therapy Institute.

Jonathan Smith- Summer's brother who disappeared when he was two, just before she was born. He was never found.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith- Summer's parents who never got over the loss of their son.

Adam Merrick- a rih son of a Senator who dates summer for a little while , till the horrible truth is revealed. The dangerous one.

Diver- The guy who shares the stilt house with summer. Philosophical and sweet, Diver refuses to date because he says girls mess with his "wa." Diver turns out to be Jonathan. The Mysterious one.

Seth- Summer's true love, so to speak. Seth scuba dives, and takes Summer with him. The right one.

Lianne- Seth's former girlfriend who is not too happy about their breakup and his love with Summer. She later gets together with JT.

JT- The cook at the Crab 'n Conch. Marquez's former boyfriend who she secretly still loves. He found out that he was adopted, and for awhile is suspected to be Jonathan.

Marquez- Summer's friend on the island, who gets her a job at the Crab 'n Conch. Marquez is a great artist, but insists she wants to be a laywer.

Sean Valetti- Summer's crush from back home.
