The South Eastern University of Sri lanka was established in 1995, its predecessor was the "South Eastern University Collage of Sri lanka". This university is situated in the coastal harbour town Oluvil in Ampara District with the river ‘Kaliodai’ by the side of the university. The university consists of five faculties namely, Faculty of Management and Information Technology, Faculty of Management and Commerce, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Culture, and Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language.
