Tara Lemmey

Tara Lemmey is an American investment consultant. She founded LENS in 1999 with the mission of helping large corporations make strategic innovation investment decisions. She has been a visiting lecturer at Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Columbia, and U.C. Berkeley, and is a regular commentator on public radio. Lemmey is a contributor to Wired, BusinessWeek and the Harvard Business Review.

Lemmey has advised senior executives of Fortune 500 companies such as Intel, and executives at companies such as Nokia and Polycom on innovation, next-generation strategies, new markets, investments and acquisitions. Throughout her career, she has worked with the entrepreneurial divisions of companies such as McGraw-Hill, Peoplexpress Airlines, Absolut, Xerox, and Siemens. She helps companies create options for next generation growth by providing them with a unique approach to opening new markets.

Lemmey also serves on a variety of boards and committees. The task force provided recommendations to the U.S. government on intelligence and homeland security in the post-9/11 world. Lemmey also serves on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Privacy Advisory Committee, tasked with advising on how to best preserve privacy and civil liberties while improving national security. She is an advisor to Dr. Andrew Weil's Program for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, and is an emeritus board member of the AIGA Center for Brand Experience, a leading design and brand organization.

Earlier in her career, Lemmey was president of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where she worked on global initiatives in the areas of intellectual property, encryption, and privacy. She also founded three technology companies that were trailblazers in new markets and was on the founding board of TRUSTe, a leader in online privacy.
