boogaloo , salsa andlatin jazz percussionist, vibraphonist, band leader and composer. He was born on February 29 , 1938 inNew York City . He passed away on June 7, 1993. He co-wrote withJohnny Pacheco the 1961 hit, "El Güiro De Macorina." He has been called "theQuincy Jones of Salsa."
