Alguashte

Alguashte is a seasoning typical of Salvadoran cuisine made from gound pepitas, and is both sweet or savoury meals. Simple to make; it is often prepared at home, however it can also be purchased pre-packaged as well as from street vendors often as an addition to a meal or snack. It is added to foods such as beans and eggs, and to fruits such as unripe mango, as well as to soups dishes such as shuco. Etymology

Alguashte is a caliche word of rural origan [ [http://elsalvadorwest.org/caliche.html Caliche, the real Spanish] ] . Alguashte, however is understood also in urgan areas throughout El Salvador.
