Portfwd.exe

Portfwd.exe

Portfwd.exe is the name of the Windows Home Server Port Forwarding service. It enables the adding and deleting of port mappings on a UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) router. This .exe file has known issues whereby it can use in excess of 90% CPU time, thus slowing your Windows Home Server (WHS) to almost unuseable speeds and causing slow running when trying to connect via another computer using the Windows Home Server Console.

A suggested fix is to disable this service by going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, scroll down to Windows Home Server Port Forwarding, right-click and select Properties. Then in the Startup type drop down box, select Disabled.
