Demography

The area is populated with a mix of people from all income groups. Keshav Puram is also known for its excellent parks. Each Pocket has at least one park.

Administration and politics

Kesav Puram is in the constituency represented by MLC Dr. Mahendra Nagpal of BJP. The area is presently under the WAZIRPUR jurisdiction (No.17) of DELHI. The present MLA is Shri Anil Bhardwaj, INC. Keshav Puram falls under the Outer Delhi Constituency, presently represented in the Lok Sabha by Shri Sajjan Kumar, INC. It is a ward of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Keshav Puram metro station is on the Red Line opened in 2004. Once the underpass construction between Ring Road & Keshav Puram completes, the locality will be flocked only by motor vehicles and it may possibly loose its present Residential flavor.

The locality is well linked to the Ring Road through Wazirpur Depot (presently called as Netaji Subhash Place)

Keshav Puram has many parks in the area major ones being Mazdoor Park (also referred as Hathoda Ram Park as it is popularly called. This name refers to a sculpture in the park which shows a labour with a big hathoda in his hands)

Dhyan chand sports complex which has facilities for many games such as swimming, Tennis etc is situated in Ashok Vihar and is at a distance of 1ooo meters

Personalities from Keshav Puram

"Late Smt. Indumati Kaushik"

Smt. Indumati Kaushik was a famous poetess. Her poetry is famous in India as well as abroad. She spent a long time of her life living in Keshav Puram. She wrote a book 'Asweekar' - Hindi Khand Kavya, and won many awards for the outstanding literature. She was well known for her Hindi poems and gazals. Her books are still in the press.

She was not only a poetess, but a famous social figure. She was involved in the political activities in Keshav Puram, and had worked very hard for the development of the area.

She died on July 20, 2008 after long illness. Her book 'Abhinav Aarambh - Neelkanth' (Mahakavya) is in the process to become a book.

"Sahib Singh Verma"

He was elected for Municipal Corporation of Delhi in 1977 and went on to become Chief Minister of Delhi and afterwards he was a union minister in the Government of India.

Keshav Puram has two petrol pumps. It also has two commercial centres Aggarwal Modern Bazar and R G . Both are near the two petrol pumps respectively. Aggarwal Modern Bazar houses Canara Bank and Andhra Bank branches. RG houses ICICI bank and HDFC bank branches.

Cultural life

Cinema theatres near to Keshav Puram are at Shakurpur (Samrat Cinema), Anand Parbat (Liberty), Azadpur (Alpna),Shadipur (Satyam), Karampura (Milan) and Moti Nagar (Natraj. These are all within a radius of 5 km and screen mostly Hindi films.

Many cultural events are held regularly at Keshavpuram. Some of them are listed below.

Ramlilas (where the life of Lord Rama is enacted at stage) are held at fairly big scale where 4000 to 5000 people attend everyday.

There are many cultural programs such as Khatu Shyam Sandhya and Hariyanavi cultural programs. Hasya Kavi Sammelan on the occassion of Agarsen Jayanti is also a regular annual feature.

Also cultural programs are held during various festivals such as Janmashtami, Holi
