Scott Reynolds (stage name KQ Public) is a Canadian hip-hop comedy musician and projectionist. He was born in Wyebridge, Ontario and attended McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He has released one studio album, "A Million Vocations", with a second album due to be released in late 2008.

Biography

Scott Reynolds was born in Wyebridge, Ontario in 1984. He began composing music at a young age, and learned to play piano, saxophone and guitar while growing up. He became a fan of parody and the fusion of humour with music in childhood, citing influence from artists such as Weird Al Yankovic and Barenaked Ladies. While in high school, he worked at the local movie theatre, eventually becoming the projectionist. Upon returning from university, he began writing a variety of musical numbers that touched on esoteric humour from the projection world, as well as general aspects and stereotypes of the rap and hip-hop world.

KQ Public

Reynolds' alter-ego, KQ Public, was inspired by a fellow projectionist and several prominent hip-hop artists. The KQ Public persona is marked by several grossly magnified stereotypes of rappers; he is incredibly self-aggrandizing and arrogant, with emphasis on his sexual prowess and wealth. He also seems to have a preference for young teenage girls, as indicated by such songs as Get Down and Thirteen Feels So Right. KQ Public claims to be a proficient breakdancer, and raps proudly of his white trash upbringing in a trailer park.

A Million Vocations

Released in June 2008, KQ Public's debut album contains nine tracks, including the singles I Ain't Your Baby's Daddy and Breakdance Ninja. Recorded and released independently by Reynolds himself, it encompasses a variety of music genres and styles, including gangsta rap, old school hip-hop and techno. A follow-up album, in production as of July 2008, is expected to be released later in the year.
