- Balint Karosi
Bálint Karosi (born 1979 in
Budapest, Hungary ). He started to study thepiano andclarinet at the age of six and years later at the age of seventeen he began to study thepipe organ . He studied at theFerenc Liszt Academy of Music with Gábor Lehotka from 1997-1999 then at the Conservatoire Superieure de Musique de Geneva in the "classe de virtuosité" with Lionel Rogg from 1999-2001, where he was awarded the "Prix de virtousité avec distinction" in both organ and clarinet.While studying in Switzerland Balint Karosi was awarded a full scholarship from the Swiss Federation. He has won several international competitions as both an organist and clarinetist. In 2001 he won the Grand prix d'improvisation "Rochette" at Geneva's conservatory, also winning second prize at the Carl Maria von Weber clarinet competition in Essen and third prize at an organ competition in Korschenbroich, Germany . He also won a third prize and a prize of the public at the competition "Dom zu Speyer" in 2000, and a special prize from the National Meeting of Young Organists.
Bálint Karosi has performed internationally in countries such as Hungary, Switzerland, Ireland, Poland, Germany, France and in the United States. He has performed for both radio and television and has recorded numerous CDs that are currently available. He is currently the Minister of Music at the First Lutheran Church of Boston in Boston, MA. He keeps a constant schedule of recitals and concerts both at the Lutheran Church and around the New England area. He continues to compose and is currently refining his conducting in hopes of future projects.
On the 19th of July, he won the 16th International Johann Sebastian Bach competition in
Leipzig for Organ.References
