[is] are a young and upcoming Alternative Electronic-Indie rock band founded in 2006 in Sydney, Australia. The band consists of all members aged 16 and 17, with the sole songwriter, producer, singer and instrumentalist, Tom Ugly, and the band's live setup consisting of Henry Mewing (Drums), Mahli-Ann Butt (Bass, Backing Vocals) and Oliver Stanton (Keyboards, Synths, Backing Vocals). Commercial success began when [is] were announced the first ever winners of The Triple J Unearthed High Competition with their song 'Cult Romance' in 2008. Prior to this the band had built a strong local reputation winning the 2007 Kool Skools Jb Hi- Fi Competition and winning best alternative rock song with "Someone Sued Superman" and "Tom Ugly'" the songwriter, winning best artist/outstanding talent at the 2007 Kool Skool Awards awarded by Josh Pyke at the Metro Theatre in Sydney. They were also Australian Global Battle Of The Bands finalists representing Sydney in 2006. [is] are also featured on the mixed compilation album "Alpine Uncovered" which was available on itunes and free in the 'Herald Sun' at its release.
