Two Wells Roosters Football Club
- Two Wells Roosters Football Club
The Two Wells Football Club are an Australian Rules Football club in the Adelaide Plains Football League. They are nicknamed the roosters and wear a red and white striped guernsey.
History
In the Early 1920s Two Wells was affiliated with the Adelaide Plains Football Association. During the 1920s the club formed tow teams, with the A Grade remaining in the A.P.F.L and the B Grade participated in the Lower North Association. Other sides competing in the L.N.F.A included Korunye, Angle Vale, Virginia, Smithfield and Sailsbury. In 1928 Two Wells reverted to fielding one team, which competed in the Lower North Association, which by this stage had been reduced to only four clubs, due to the withdrawal of Sailsbury and Smithfield. Two Wells won the next three premierships in 1928, 1929 and 1930.Two Wells returned to the Adelaide Plains League and remained there until the suspension of football in 1939.It would appear that throughout this early period of the club colours were red and white, as they are today, although the design varied from numerous horizontal hoops in 1912, to one horizontal band on a red base in 1928.In the immediate years after the war, it would appear that Two Wells joined a reformed Lower North Association. Teams competing in this association included Virginia, Smithfield, Sailsbury, Roseworthy and Gawler River.
