Ostad Mohammad Baharloo

Mohammad Baharloo (April 1929 - February 14, 2007), (Persian:محمد بهارلو ) was a renowned Iranian musician, violinist, composer and conductor.

Biography

Maestro Mohammad Baharloo was born in Tehran. In his family, Mohammad was the only one that adopted music as a profession. His oldest brother, Abdollah Baharloo was familiar with music and tried to familiarize Mohammad with beautiful folk songs as a child. At a very early age, Baharloo lost his father, a man of important stature in the Iranian political arena of the time. Thereafter, the responsibility of raising the young Baharloo fell on the shoulders of his cultured and patient mother.

Baharloo began playing the violin as an adolescent under the directions of Seyed Mohammad Bahrini Poor. However, in order to become familiarized with the international techniques of playing the violin, Baharloo took lessons from Carl Yan Zubeck who was one of the twelve music instructors sent to Iran at the time from the Czech Republic. After Yan Zubeck left Iran for his home country, Baharloo became a pupil of Rubick Gregorian, a skillful Armenian violinist.

As an adolescent, young Baharloo began thinking of researching the forming techniques of classical Persian music. However, none of the masters of music at the time could provide him with concrete responses. Hence, young Baharloo decided to take matters into his own hands; it was this decision that led to the publication of six volumes of his work fifteen years later. His pupils were mohsen molana, salmak saghaie and hamed ebrahimi.
