Mexican Dance Ensemble (MDE) is a non for profit organization founded on the principles of equality and freedom of expression. We are committed to the fostering of these principles through art education.

The company's main objectives include keeping our young members away from idleness and unproductive activities, offering a performing platform for emerging artists, as well as expanding the important values of fine arts and the artistic community.

Our repertoire focuses on the preservation of Mexican traditions enriched with particular ideologies which are closely linked to the core essence of this magnificent and diverse heritage.

MDE Mission Statement

The Mexican Dance Ensemble (MDE) provides a challenging environment that promotes cultural awareness, preserves mexican folklore, and cultivates dance by striving to reach a high level of artistic excellence. The MDE is operated as a collaborative effort that provides an opportunity, outside of dancing, for each member to contribute his/her distinctive talents and skills. This organization encourages unity, poise, self-confidence, and discipline in an environment that reflects cultural and social diversity.

MDE Brief History

Mexican Dance Ensemble was founded in November 2001. MDE started with 22 dance members. Presently, we have about 100 dance members distributed in four groups by age. The adult group has had many wonderful experiences performing in several important stages thorughout USA, highlighting performances at the Chicago Theatre, Pritzker Pavillium at the Millennium Park, Athenaeum Theatre, Harris Theatre among others in this City. In 2005 MDE was awarded with the first place in both competitions "La gran Competencia de cuadros Folkloricos" in Dallas TX and "The second International Mexican Folkloric Dance Competition " in New York and was invited at the Fiestas Patrias at ¨Main Street festival¨ in Queens NY. MDE received awards and certificates of appreciation from the State of Illinois, the Mexican Folkloric Dance Society of NY, Folk Festival of the North of Texas, Office of the Cook County Treasurer, The Government of the State of Guerrero and the Resurrection Project.MDE is a community base Mexican folkloric dance group composed of professional and talented dancers. Our commitment is to serve as a liaison of Mexican folk dance arts. Because we express our talent at an artistic level of excellence, we are considered to be one of the most dynamic and talented dance groups in the Chicago land area.
