Anthony Charles "Tony" Smith (born
15 July 1950 ) was anAustralia n politician. He was educated at theUniversity of Queensland before becoming a fitter and turner and a marine engineer. He later became a barrister and then a primary producer. In 1996, he was elected to theAustralian House of Representatives as the Liberal member for Dickson. He did not receive Liberal endorsement for the 1998 election and contested it as an independent, gaining 9% of the primary vote.
