- First Wave Hello
First Wave Hello formed in 2004 in
San Diego, CA . They started as an experimental/electronica project but slowly began to sharpen their craft into a finely tuned spacey electronic-based rock band with a knack for memorable hooks and melodies. They manage to create a perfect balance of 80’s stylegeek rock a laThe Cars with the hilarious whimsical wit of modern wise guy’sMellowdrone orThe Faint .First Wave Hello have released 3 records since 2004 and have supported them with 3 successful full U.S. tours, two of which supporting
Ken Andrews as not only the tour opener, but as his full backing band. The Band’s relationship with Ken Andrews all started when he was called upon to mix their 2006 LP "the lord, & it’s penguin". The record was mixed on a shoestring budget, simply for the fact that Ken loved the record. It was later that year nominated for a San Diego Music Award. Ken is most commonly known for his production talents, mixing records for artists such as,Beck ,Tenacious D ,Jimmy Eat World ,Chris Cornell ,A Perfect Circle ,Nine Inch Nails , & Failure. After releasing their 3rd and final record "God Bless, Devil You" in 2008, and winding down from a full
North America n Bus tour, First Wave Hello decided to take an indefinite hiatus. Their last all-ages show was an energetic sold out gig opening forTeam Sleep atSan Diego ’s Soma, and at their farewell sold out headlining show at San Diego’s famous 21+ venue,The Casbah . First Wave Hello quietly started the set with a polite, ”hey we’re first wave hello, and you won’t see us for a while.” Then, blazing through a memorable final set covering all their records and walking away from the stage bombarding the crowd with samples, feedback and synthesizer buzzing, they left San Diego the same way they met it, with a wall of sound that is still bouncing around the venue after the members have left. There have been rumors of a reunion, but nothing has been confirmed.
