- Dennis Osborne
Dennis Henry Osborne (
23 December 1919 - Present ) is an Irishartist .Osborne was born in
Portsmouth, England , he served in WW2 with the Royal Artillery and was a prisoner of war in Italy and Germany for over three years.After the war he pursued his art studies with a grant from the London County Council, and studied at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts.
After Camberwell, it was his affinity for Irish landscape that brought him in 1950 to live in Donegal, Ireland. In this year he exibited in the Royal Academy.In 1952 he emigrated to Ontario, Canada with his first wife the late artist Jean Osborne, a protegy of Paul Nietsche.
In the early 1960s Dennis returned to
Northern Ireland , by this stage he had many important works shown in a variety of international prestigious exhibitions.Building on what he achieved, he has gone on to develop a unique and honest style. He is now widely acknowledged and appreciated throughout the art world.
Today he lives in Newtownards, Northern Ireland with his wife Mauren and is painting and working in his studio.
