Teboil

Teboil is a Finnish oil marketing company and chain of service stations. The company is owned by the Russian company LUKoil.

History

Teboil's history started with establishment of petroleum companies Trustivapaa Bensiini ("business trust-free gasoline") and Suomen Petrooli. Suomen Petrooli was founded by German investors in Vyborg in 1932 and Trustivapaa Bensiini by Estonian investors in Helsinki in 1934.cite paper

accessdate=2008-07-14] The company used as its name the abbreviation TB, which came from the original name of Trustivapaa Bensiini Oy. In 1966, the company changed its named to Teboil, which came from the pronouncing of TB with addition 'oil'. However, during these years, the Finnish government enterprise Neste held a legal monopoly in the wholesale of oil products, thus also Teboil actually obtained its gasoline and diesel from Neste. In 1994, Soyuznefteexport was privatized and reorganized into Nafta-Moskva. In 2005, Nafta-Moskva sold Teboil to Lukoil. Teboil acquired and merged JET unmanned stations chain (including 49 stations in Finland) from ConocoPhillips in 2006.

The parent company of the Teboil Group is Oy Teboil Ab. It has two wholly-owned subsidiaries:
* Suomen Petrooli Oy
* Suomen Tähtihovit OyThe latter company operates seven large expressway service stations.

ervice stations

There are 168 stations, the majority of which are operated by private enterpreneurs under a franchising agreement. Additionally, there are 180 unmanned refuelling stations and about 400 diesel refuelling stations for commercial traffic. The chain is the second-largest player in the Finnish market with a 23% share.cite news
