- PlutoHome
PlutoHome is a privately owned, inactive software company that began development of a home automation/home multimedia product of the same name.
The company later released its software for limited open use according to its proprietary licensing terms.
The PlutoHome software later became part of the
LinuxMCE platform (for theKubuntu Linux OS), a collection of otherwise open source software modules that integrates home automation, multimedia storage and display, VOIP telephony services, security functions, and personal video recorder functions. The PlutoHome modules provide some of these home automation and multimedia functions.
Although the remainder of the LinuxMCE system is open-source, PlutoHome retained the right to license its components to the samll number of hardware manufacturers that packaged LinuxMCE with off-the-shelf PCs.
In this regard, it took advantage of the inclusion of PlutoHome in an otherwise open-source software package (LinuxMCE) as the sole basis of its current revenue stream.
PlutoHome has no other products.
