coqui , afrog species,endemic toPuerto Rico . It was discovered in 2005 byNeftalí Rios and named was named after Puertorican herpetologistJuan A. Rivero , in honor of his contributions to Puertoricanherpetology . It is only found in the old Naval Base ofSábana Seca inToa Baja ,Puerto Rico . It is characterized by a high frequency chip-like sound, a light brown skin color and a strip between the eyes. It is the smallest species ofcoqui . The Department of Natural Resources of Puerto Rico has added this species to theendangered species list, and has designated its criticalhabitat likewise.Footnotes
