Banana (Serbian Cyrillic: Банана) were a former Yugoslav rock band.

Band history

The band was formed in 1985 in Belgrade. They released their debut album "Ponoćni pasaži" ("Midnight sections") in 1986 in the following lineup: Aleksandra Toković (daughter of a famous composer Dragan Toković, vocals), Dragan Lončar (guitar), Boban Šaranović (bass guitar), Srđan Cincar (keyboard) and Igor Borojević (drums). Album was pop-rock-oriented and featured guitarist Duda Bezuha, keyboardist Saša Lokner and a former Zamba member Bogdan Dragović. In the summer of 1987 the band performed in Czechoslovakia, and at the beginning of 1988 they released their second album Banana‚ produced by keyboardist Đorđe Petrović. Aleksandra Toković wrote seven songs which turned the band to more power pop-oriented sound. Soon after Banana disbaned. Borojević became a member of Partibrejkers, Aleksandra Toković became a television presenter at Radio Television of Serbia and Cincar formed band Fantomi.
