Venetia Kapernekas, full name: Venetia Kapernekas, (b. Athens, Greece) is a
contemporary art gallerist.Biography
Kapernekas has been a part of the international contemporary art scene for the last 20 years as a gallerist, collector, and supporter of the arts community in New York City and abroad.
She began exhibiting art by establishing the gallery, Ice Box [Cranston, Meg (2008). "Hot Pants in a Cold Cold World". New Zealand: ARTSPACE and Clouds. 105-175] , in Athens, Greece, between the years of 1994 and 1998. In 1999¸ she founded the gallery Venetia Kapernekas Fine Arts in New York City, which became Gray Kapernekas Gallery in 2005 when Kapernekas formed a partnership with gallerist Alexander Gray.
In 2006, Kapernekas reopened her gallery independently as Venetia Kapernekas Gallery after dissolving her partnership with Gray. The gallery currently represents a select group of emerging visual artists and produces events and projects in conjunction with its exhibition program, composed of group and solo shows of work by artists including:
