April 3 ,1952 ) born inFigueras ,Gerona is a Spanish musican better known as Kiko VenenoBiography
He was brought up in a military home in Figueras, and grew up in
Cadiz and lived many years inSeville . HE got the nickname Kiko while studying in University [Barceleona 2004 Web Site http://www.barcelona2004.org/eng/actualidad/entrevistas/entrevista.cfm?id=43] . He studied Philosophy and after graduating travelled through Europe and the US. During his travels he attended concerts of artists likeFrank Zappa , andBob Dylan which influenced his style. However his main influences however were those of his home countryflamenco . In1975 he formed the group Veneno with brothers Rafael and Raimundo Amador. In 1977 they produced the self titled album "Veneno" produced by Ricardo Pachon. Although not a great hit at the time it is now considered a classic Spanish album.In
1979 he colloborated withCamaron de la Isla the famousgypsy flamenco singer on the classic album "Camaron de la Isla"In 1982 he published his first solo CD Seré "Mecánico por Ti" ,produced by Jose Luis de Carlos, which had a poor commercial performance. During the 80's he continued to publish songs but due to lack of commercial success he had to supplement his music working for the council of
Seville .in
1992 heralded a more successful part of his career when he signedBMG-Ariola and released his albums Échate un cantecito (1992) y "Está muy bien eso del cariño. The first album produced several hits like "En Un Mercedes Blanco" and "Joselito". The success of these albums allowed him to devote himself full time to music.He toured with these CDs and released an new album after this called "Está muy bien eso del cariño".
In 1992 Kiko sponsored the creation of of a group that would be called Mártires del Compás, , formed by Chico Ocaña, Raul Rodriguez and Jose Caraoscura. Disagreements between Ocana and Kiko meant that that the group broke into two: Ocaña took the name of the group and went solo, and Raul Rodriguez and Jose Caraoscura (Kiko in the background) formed Caraoscura. They released an album in 1995 entitled "¿Qué es lo que quieres de mí?".
In 1999 he toured Argentina to give a series of three concerts in
La Trastienda which were a critical success.After another three more records Kiko ended of his contract with Ariola and decided to produce future music himself.In September 2005 he released "El Hombre Invisible" after nearly two years of work. In
2006 he formed the group G5 with with Los Delinqüentes,Tomatito and Muchachito Bombo Infierno.Selected Discography
