Plurilateral agreement

Plurilateral agreement

A plurilateral agreement is an agreement between more than two countries, but not a great many, which would be multilateral agreement.cite web |title=Deardorff's Glossary of International Economics: P |url=http://www-personal.umich.edu/~alandear/glossary/p.html |accessdate=2008-07-11]

Use of the term in the World Trade Organization

The term is primarily used in the World Trade Organization. A plurilateral agreement implies that member countries would be given the choice to agree to new rules on a voluntary basis. This contrasts with the multilateral agreement, where all members are party to the agreement.
