CCENT

CCENT: is the acronym for Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician certification. In writing and speech this certification is referred to as CCENT rather than the long name Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician.

The first stage of Cisco's certification system is the entry level and begins with Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification as an interim step to Associate level or directly with CCNA and CCDA certifications. While the CCENT covers basic networking knowledge. CCENT does not get involved with the more intricate technical aspects of the Cisco routing and switching and network design. CCENT does validate the skills essential for entry-level network support positions. CCENT qualified individuals have the knowledge and skill to install, manage, maintain and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including network security. The CCENT training is Cisco ICND1 and the exam is (640-822 ICND1)

The CCNA curriculum also covers most of what is required to pass this exam.
