Kathryn Kennedy Winery, is a small winery located in Saratoga, California. Nestled on 8 acres (32,000 m²) in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains near the Silicon Valley, Kathryn Kennedy Winery is one of the area's premier producers of Cabernet Sauvignon.

History

Kathryn Kennedy Winery was established in 1973 by Kathryn Kennedy. She purchased the land for the estate vineyard on Pierce Road in Saratoga after attending the University of California, Davis where she majored in viticulture. Based on local wine maker's advice she decided to plant only Cabernet vines on her property and for over 30 years the vineyard has produced many full bodied and award winning cabernet wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation with a wonderful aging potential.

Wines

Though the Kathryn Kennedy estate contains only Cabernet vines which are used in the production of the winery's signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Kathryn Kennedy Winery also produces several other varieties made from grapes local to the estate.

*Estate Cabernet-The Winery's signature wine produced from the estate's 8 acres (32,000 m²) of Cabernet vines. It is a limited production wine aged in 90% oak that usually goes for upwards of $140 a bottle. This wine is always 100% made from Cabernet grapes and is a perpetual award winner.
*Small Lot Cabernet-Cabernet wine produced from grapes selected from small vineyards in the surrounding Santa Cruz Mountain appellation. This wine is usually a mixture of mostly Cabernet with other reds such as Merlot mixed in.
*Syrah-Bold Syrah produced from multiple vineyards around the Santa Cruz Mountain appellation local to Kathryn Kennedy.
*Reserve Syrah-This is Kathryn Kennedy's premier Syrah produced solely from the neighboring Maridon Vineyards aged in 100% French oak.
