Masanjala is a rural province in the southern region of Malawi, southern Africa. Masanjala is located 70 kilometers south of the commercial city of Blantyre. With a population of about 10,000 people, its main source of income is agriculture. The town center has a nursery school, primary school, two secondary schools (government and private) and a Catholic Parish and the Masanjala Education Foundation office. It is located in the district of Chiradzulu.
About Masanjala Education Foundation
Masanjala Education Foundation is a Seattle based not-for-profit organization founded by Gerald Macheso and Joseph Legaz with a mission of providing support to local schools in the province of Masanjala. The Foundation works to improve school attendance by awarding scholarships and financial aid to students, and providing teaching and learning materials to teachers and students. Through these efforts, absentee rates have decreased, and the quality of education in Masanjala has been improved.
