KPSP-LP is a CBS-affiliated Class A low-power television station serving California's Coachella Valley (the Palm Springs DMA), officially licensed to Cathedral City. Its studios and offices are in Thousand Palms, California. The station is owned and operated by Desert Television, which also owns KYAV-LP, a Spanish-language affiliate of Azteca America.

KPSP refers to itself on-air as "KPSP Local 2," as channel 2 is its designation on all Coachella Valley area cable systems; it is seen over the air on UHF channel 38. (Confusingly, a different station in the market - KCWQ-LP - actually broadcasts on over-the-air VHF channel 2.)

Prior to KPSP-LP signing on as a new affiliate, CBS programming came into the Palm Springs market via cable or antenna through Los Angeles' KCBS-TV. When KPSP went on the air, the Coachella Valley area cable companies displaced KCBS-TV (at KCBS's request), and KPSP adopted the "CBS 2" moniker, following the practice of major local competitors in using its cable designation for branding purposes. The KDPX call letters are now on channel 45, the local ION affliate.

On April 1st 2008, KPSP switched from branding itself "CBS 2" to "KPSP Local 2". The "CBS 2" logo, however, remains.

KPSP produces a local newscast from 5pm-6:30pm on weekdays, advertising it as a single "90-minute newscast". It then airs the CBS Evening News at 6:30.

KPSP is a media partner of the The Desert Sun, the major local daily newspaper.

Rich Fields, KPSP's former Chief Meteorologist (8/02 - 4/04), is now the announcer on the CBS gameshow, "The Price is Right". Fields has held that position since April 4, 2004.
