Pambiche

Pambiche

Pambiche is a Latin American Dance derived from the Merengue , the national dance of the Dominican Republic. The Merengue was once called the "Palm Beach One Step" and it is said that "Pambiche" is a derrivation of "Palm Beach." The Pambiche is slower and less syncopated than the Merengue. They are considered by some to be the most difficult of all Americanised Latin American Dances. Dominican Accordionist El Prodigio has released an album entitled "Pambiche meets Jazz", in which he combines traditional merengue rhytms (most of the songs featuring pambiche) with traditional American music such as jazz, rock, and blues.

Both dances appear in Jean Francaix's suite "Cinq Danses Exotiques" Fact|date=August 2008.
