Jacqueline Govaert

Jacqueline Govaert

Jacqueline Govaert (born 20 April, 1982, Kaatsheuvel) is a Dutch singer and pianist who currently plays with the band Krezip and has also been a guest singer for Ayreon. She is the main song writer of the band and is known for being very expressive while on stage.

Govaert is one of the first graduates of the Dutch Rockacademy in Tilburg. At a very young age she started playing music. When she was twelve she started to write songs on her piano. At highschool she started the band Krezip. She is the main writer for the band and plays the piano in the band. But since her fellow bandmember Annelies Kuijsters had a hand injury and therefore wasn't allowed to play guitar anymore, Annelies became the band's pianist. Jacqueline is happy about it because "...now I can concentrate on my performance."

She has been a guest singer on several projects for several artists such as the music project Ayreon, Dutch band Relax (on the album "Odeur de Clochard"), Armin van Buuren and Fernando Lameirinhas.

In 2006 Jacqueline lent her voice to the anthem for the TMF Awards of 2006. Together with The Partysquad, Extince and Caprice they recorded the song and performed it during the opening of the TMF Awards. During the few weeks after the Awards the song became so popular TMF decided to release the song as a single. On December 9 2006 it reached the #4 spot in the Dutch physical+download chart Top 100, only with downloads.

It is now becoming a tradition that Jacqueline and her band perform each year at a concert held at Museum Square in Amsterdam, to celebrate Queen's Day, a Dutch national holiday.
