"Volume 9" was released on April 3, 2008, shortly after South Korean boy band Shinhwa's 10th anniversary becoming Shinhwa's ninth album. It was first released as a limited edition, with only 50,000 copies available. Each one came with a hologram serial number and a 120 page photobook. The regular edition was released a week later. "다시 한번만" (Dashi Hanbeonman) was the first track to be released off "Volume 9", as a digital single shortly before the album's release date. "RUN" was the next song to be released with a promotional music video.

Chart performance

Although solo schedules prevented Shinhwa from actively promoting "Volume 9" as a group, the album still sold over 100,000 copies in little over 1 month, and ranked 1st in album sales for the April monthly chart. Although it failed to chart on the May monthly one, it did reached #25 on the June monthly chart.
