His introduction scene in a 'Pooja room' where he chants in his own voice " Ganesha saranam, saranam ganesha…" is making the crowd go into a frenzy.
The movie has 3 popular songs 'Kalyanakacheri' , 'Ente Sarike' and 'Amma Mazhakarinu', of which 'Amma Mazhakarinu' is one of the most popular Malayalam film song in 2008.
Plot
Gopalakrishnan Pillai (Mohanlal) is a money-lender in a village. People misunderstand him to be money-minded, without having any emotional bond even towards his mother or younger brother Ramakrishnan Pillai (Ajmal). There are other story elements that are typical to Mohanlal films like the enemies in the form of a feudal family, as well as a close knit circle of friends who know his good side.
As the story moves along, we learn more about the hero. He is considered heartless, as he threw out his father (Sai Kumar) when he was a teenager, for his father's wayward lifestyle. His mother (KPAC Lalitha) hates him for doing that and his brother hates him because he does not let his brother pursue his dream of being an actor and never gives him any freedom.
His main antagonists are Siddique and his younger brothers. Kavya Madhavan assumes the role of Jayalakshmi(Kavya Madhavan), a bank manager who is seen as a threat to the hero's money lending business
Jagathy plays Mohanlal's legal advisor & Innocent Plays The Karayogam President.Others in the cast include Kiran Raj' Vijay Kumar, Sriraman, Kollam Thulasi, Malika Kapoor & Suraj Venjaramoodu.
Mohanlal delivers a strong performance, which doesn't satisfy normal contemporary fans who follow mindless action and plots. However with brilliant screenplay and direction, and crisp dialogue and sound delivery by the actors, Madambi presents a new heart-breakingly raw style to Mohanlal's films.
