- Robbert and Rudolf Das
Robbert Das, (
Haarlem ,23 January 1929 ) and Rudolf Das (Haarlem ,23 January 1929 ) are Dutch twin brothers, author s and futurologists. Together, for over 40 years they have made technical illustrations and designs for all kinds of clients. After their high school they planned to go to flight school, after the rejection of Robbert because of a minor eye-defect, they chose to do something else together. In 1952 they founded a technical illustration agency. In 1953 they made fame by publishing a detailed "exploded" drawing of a secret British fighter jet, the
Supermarine Swift , in the Swiss magazine Interavia.Rudolf Das has worked for the Dutch magazine Elsevier as a editor for a series of articles on the future. He also is well known for his architectural design, mainly because of his "hill-construction". Rudolf Das also has been an adviser to
Rijkswaterstaat , an institution part of the Dutch Ministry of Transportation and Water Management. The last couple of years they both published several books, in which they make several futuristic proposals. These proposals usually are of architectural and infrastructural nature, with the emphasis on environmental issues. The two brothers try to draw a wider image of mankind in the world. They make social-critical commentary about the energy industry and development aid. They compare the current technological achievements of mankind with the achievements made on social-civil level. They conclude that mankind still is very underdeveloped on that second level, from where they speculate that there must be a logic evolutionary progress in the mentality of mankind.
The brothers frequently give lectures on their visions and designs, in which the emphasis usually lies with solutions for problems relevant for Holland.
Rudolf Das has made several illustrations for the books of the Dutch writer Stefan Denaerde. These books are mainly about the meeting of Denaerde with aliens of the planet Iarga, and the implications of their message. The foundation of Denaerde 'Cosmic Field Paradigm' also uses these illustrations.
