- Afshin Sadeghi
Afshin Sadeghi (born on
May 31 ,1969 ) started learning theSantur from his father Ostad Manoochehr Sadeghi since the age of four. He took multiple lessons daily and had his practices monitored by his father. Afshin continued to learn the "Radif of Ostad Manoochehr Sadeghi" which is a renewed and updated technical method that derives from the "Radif of Ostad Saba".Afshin was born in
Los Angeles and was drawn to computers and music software which now at the age of 39, he creates music and scores music for films and videos from his home studio. He also performs with a variety DJ's, bands and various music projects that are more electronically influenced. In 2005 he opened 2 live shows for the world famous artist "Prince" at theEmpire Ballroom in Las Vegas and recorded withCrazytown andThievery Corporation to name a few.At present he continues to help his father archive 5 years of Santur lessons which will include interactive online music lessons for students around the world to be able to learn how to play the Santur through the new santur.com website that will launch in 2009.
He his also working with a variety of Santur students of his father to start a non profit organization: "The Preservation of Persian Classical Music" and has reached out the archives at the University of Southern California for the entire audio and video database archive of Manoochehr Sadeghi's entire career performing and teaching at UCLA.
His band is called
AlienFusion (foreign entities that come together) and he performs with 3 different Santurs (one acoustic, one electronic thru a Mac laptop and one Midi-Santur) along with a variety of acoustic and electronic musicians.External links
