Luis Manuel Muñoz (born January 10, 1982 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) is a right-handed starting pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization. He was originally signed by scout Jose Luna as an 18-year old amateur free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 3, by|2000, and made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Pirates in by|2001.

On October 21, 2007, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review article "Pirates make roster moves" noted that " right-hander Luis Munoz was placed on the 40-man roster, a reward for a solid season at Class AA Altoona".

In by|2007, Munoz was ranked second in lowest ERA in Altoona with a 3.57 ERA, highest number of wins 14 and third in strikeouts with 105. On July 5, by|2008, Munoz had an incredible game allowing no runs and only 3 hits in his third game of the season for the Altoona Curve. He was called up by the Pirates on July 10, 2008, but sent down the next day without appearing in a game.

On July 30, by|2008, the Mariners claimed Muñoz off waivers from Pittsburgh and optioned him to Double-A West Tennessee.

Personal life

He was married December 22, 2007, to his childhood sweetheart Celia Aquino Munoz in his hometown. Muñoz looks forward to settling down during the off-season with his wife and play winter baseball again with the Estrellas Orientales.
