Carlos Antonio Muñoz Cobo, known as Carlos (born 25 August 1961 in Úbeda, Andalusia), is a retired Spanish footballer who played as a striker. He was known for his flair, in the molds of a pure goal-poacher.

Club career

During his early career Carlos, a FC Barcelona graduate who never appeared for the first team, played for Elche CF, Hércules CF and Real Murcia. In 1987-88 he joined Real Oviedo, with whom he achieved promotion (finished fourth, but Real Madrid Castilla was ineligible) while becoming the category "pichichi" (top scorer).

Having caught the attention of Atlético de Madrid, Carlos never settled however in his sole season in the capital and returned to Oviedo. There, he would amass more than 100 overall goals for the Asturian side (in seven seasons, only netted once in single digits and had 20 in 1993-94).

Carlos retired in 1997, after a brief spell in Mexico for Puebla FC. In an October 12, 1996 match against Tecos UAG, he scored 4 times in a 5-2 success.

International career

For the national team, Carlos played 6 times with as much goals, in a 1-year span. His first game came on September 12, 1990, in a friendly match with Brazil in Gijón. He scored after 10 minutes, in a 3-0 win.
