GoGuides is a searchable human edited web directory, categorized by location and topics and also includes features like image search and updated news. Started in 2001, by Mr. Robert Barger, the name GoGuides is a trademark of GoGuides, Inc and the GoGuides database is copyrighted with the United States Copyright Office reference number: TX0006126406.

Walt Disney owned the volunteer GoGuides directory but it was closed down by Go.com, which paved the way for the inception of the GoGuides Directory in 2001 by Mr. Barger. Over a period of time, it has grown into one of the most visited and respected online directories by the public and SEO experts. With regards to content, the directory uses a mixture of volunteer editors, paid members, and staff editors for editorial reviews. The purpose of placing sites in the appropriate categories in the GoGuides Directory, by individuals and business, is to increase their site traffic.

In 2004, GoGuides, Inc went into a partnership with North America Internet Service, Inc aka NAIS, Inc. and started the DataSpear Directory. In Dec. 2006 GoGuides, Inc. purchased all stock in North America Internet Service making Robert Barger the sole owner of both corporations.

Major websites like iseDB.com have recognized the worth of the content posted on the site and consider it one of the major online directories. Moreover, the directory also finds mention in a book called “SEO BIBLE”, by Jerri L. Ledford, who is an expert in SEO and has written numerous books and articles on the same.

A one time fee of $39.99 is required, if one wants to go for paid submissions to GoGuides. There is also a submission specialist program offered by this online directory that allows instant submission of websites to the GoGuides directory for a monthly fee
