- WYOU (Madison)
WYOU is a public access
cable television station for theMadison, Wisconsin area. The WYOU schedule consists almost exclusively of locally-produced programming, including the interview and performance show "Mindshock," broadcasts of events from the Madison Civics Club, and recorded performances by such acts as the Capital City Band, Jesse Walker, and the Gomers and their "Gomeroke" karaoke concerts. WYOU also airs satellite-fed programs such as "Democracy Now! " and other programs fromFree Speech TV . WYOU is a not-for-profit entity and independent of any company or government, although it does receive some funding from the City of Madison through a fee the city charges to cable subscribers.WYOU currently airs on Channel 4 on Charter Cable systems in
Dane County (both basic analog and digital cable). On September 30, 2008, the channel will move to Channel 95 of Charter's analog tier and Channel 991 of its digital tier, with a tenative change to the digital-only tier in February 2009; the latter move was scheduled for August 2008 but was later aborted.External Links
