Contraceptive implant

A contraceptive implant is a birth control device inserted under the skin. Brands include:

  • Norplant and Jadelle (Norplant II)
  • Implanon
  • Sino-implant (II) marketed as Zarin, Femplant and Trust
  • Nexplanon Implanon replacement

•It is easier to insert than Implanon®. •It contains barium, which means that it will show up on an X-ray. This may be useful to locate it if it cannot be felt in the future.
